The fourth generation Toyota Celica GT was now the second tier in the Celica model range just above the returning ST. The GT initially came with a front-wheel-drive 2.0L 2S-E motor and was upgraded a year later to the 3S-FE which is the same powerplant found in the ST. The GT had a few upgrades such as a strut bar and seats with lumbar support. The car was also offered in all three body styles: hatchback, notchback, and convertible.
