The Austin FX4 was a series of cars most commonly known for being used as taxicabs in the United Kingdom. Introduced in 1958, the FX4 was the successor to the Austin FX3, and built in a four door saloon body style. The FX4 was powered by both gasoline or diesel 2.2L inline four engines, with the diesel unit being the most common. These cars are noted for their incredibly tight turning radius, which was created in order to be able to navigate the roundabout at the famed Savoy Hotel in London. Austin continued production of the FX4 until 1982, when the rights were purchased by Carbodies, who continued to produce the FX4 until 1997.
