The BMW 228i xDrive was an all wheel drive variant of the F22 2 Series that was introduced for the 2014 model year. The 228i xDrive was offered in both coupe and convertible body styles and was powered by BMW's N20B20 engine. This turbocharged 2.0L inline four engine generated 241hp, which it sent to all four wheels through a 6 speed manual or 8 speed automatic transmission. Production of the F22 BMW 228i xDrive lasted until 2016, when it was replaced by the F22 BMW 230i xDrive.
