The BMW 3.0 CS was a variant of the BMW New Six Coupe (E9) that was introduced in 1971. The 3.0 CS was introduced alongside its fuel-injected sibling, the 3.0 CSi, with both these cars replacing the 2800 CS. Unlike the CSi, the 3.0 CS featured a carbureted version of the BMW M30 inline six engine used in both cars. This unit featured dual carburetors and produced a total of 180hp. BMW offered both a four speed manual and a three speed automatic (Automatic cars are designated CSA) for this series of cars, although it is common to find examples that have been retrofitted with a five speed manual. A special racing homologation version known as the 3.0 CSL was built using the 3.0 CS as a base. Production of the BMW 3.0 CS lasted until 1975, when the model was replaced by the BMW 6 Series.
