Frazer Nash Le Mans Replica (1948 to 1954)

Produced from October 1948 to January 1954, the Frazer Nash Le Mans Replica earned its famous name after finishing third overall in the 1949 Le Mans 24-hour race. A total of 34 examples were originally manufactured. Moving away from the marque's traditional pre-war chain-drive system, this highly successful post-war model was powered by a 2-litre six-cylinder Bristol engine derived from the pre-war BMW 328 paired with a Bristol gearbox and shaft drive. Key features included a lightweight, narrow, open two-seater aluminum racing body fitted with cycle-wing mudguards. The first 26 cars utilized an A-shaped tubular chassis with a Bristol rear axle, while the final eight were built on a revised parallel-tube chassis featuring either an Austin or a de Dion rear axle. Additionally, the Le Mans Replica was equipped with rack-and-pinion steering, independent front suspension with a transverse leaf spring, and torsion-bar rear suspension.
