The GMC New Design was a family of trucks introduced for the 1948 model year. The New Design was an upscale version of the Chevrolet Advance Design, and while largely offered as a pickup truck, other body styles such as panel van were produced. New Design trucks were initially powered by a 3.5L inline six engine, but from 1954, a 3.9L and 4.3L inline six were available. GMC produced the New Design range of trucks until 1955, when they were replaced by the GMC Blue Chip Series.
