The Mercedes-Benz 220 D Lang was a diesel variant of the W114/W115 Limousine that debuted for the 1969 model year. Although the 220D was only available from the factory as the 220D Lang and 220D sedan body style, a variety of coachbuilt station wagon, ambulance, and hearse bodies were also built by a variety of companies. These cars were powered by Mercedes' OM615 D22 engine, which was a 2.2L inline four that generated 60hp and 93 lb ft of torque. This engine sent power to the rear wheels via manual or automatic transmissions. Production of the Mercedes-Benz 220D Lang ended in 1973, with 4,027 examples built.
