The sixth generation of Mercedes-Benz S-Class, the W222, was introduced for the 2014 model year. The W222 saw numerous technological improvements to the S-Class, with a notable increase in the prescence of hybrid systems throughout the series of cars. Along with the S-Class Sedan, the W222 also marked the return of the S-Class Coupe (C217), and the introduction of the S-Class Cabriolet (A217). A wide range of engines and hybrid configurations were offered, including an inline 6 engine and an electric motor, a twin turbo V8, and twin turbo V12. The W222 features notable variants such as the S63 AMG and the S65 AMG. Production of the W222 S-Class ended in 2020, when it was replaced by the Mercedes-Benz W223 S-Class.
