Morris Motors, better known as Morris, was an English automotive manufacturer established in 1919. After its creation, Morris grew to become one of England&#39;s most popular automakers, with models such as the <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/morris/oxford/">Oxford</a>, <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/morris/cowley/">Cowley</a>, <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/morris/eight/">Eight</a>, and <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/morris/ten/">Ten</a> establishing the company&#39;s reputation. One of Morris&#39; most successful models was the <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/morris/minor/">Morris Minor</a>, which was built in various generations and variants, eventually selling over 1 million cars. In 1952, Morris merged with <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/austin/">Austin</a> to create the British Motor Corporation, which created a wide range of cars that often shared both Austin and Morris badges. Perhaps the most famous example of this collaboration is the <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/mini/classic-mini/">Classic Mini</a>, which until it became its own make, was sold as both the Austin Mini and Morris Mini. Morris badged cars remained in production until 1984, when the Morris brand was dissolved in order for the corporation to focus on the more popular Austin brand.

The Minor name debuted for a series of compact two or four seaters that were available in a range of body styles including saloon, tourer, and coupe. This family of cars was powered by an 847cc inline four engine available with 3 or 4 speed manual transmissions. Production of the first generation Minor would last until 1934, when the model was put on hiatus. Introduced in 1948, the MM saw the Minor offered in two door saloon, four door saloon, and two door convertible body styles. This second generation of Minor was powered by a 1.0L inline four engine which sent its 27.5hp to the rear wheels via a 4 speed manual transmission. Morris Minor - Series II

The third generation of <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/morris/minor/">Morris Minor</a> was introduced in 1952. Known as the Series II, this latest generation of Minor saw the model go through a substantial update. Alongside various improvements to the drivetrain and chassis, the Series II was fitted with a 803cc inline four engine that generated 30hp which was sent to the rear wheels via a 4 speed manual transmission. Like the previous generation, two door saloon, four door saloon, and two door convertible body styles were offered. As well as these established body styles, Morris introduced an estate version known as the Traveller. These estates featured wood panelling on its sides, in the style of American Woody Wagons. Production of the Minor Series II lasted until 1956, when it was replaced by the <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/morris/minor/1000/">Morris Minor 1000</a>.

Introduced in 1956, the Minor 1000 was the last major generation of <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/morris/minor/">Morris Minor</a> produced. Named the 1000 for its 1.0L inline four engine, the Minor 1000 was available as a two door saloon, four door saloon, two door convertible, estate (Traveller), van, and pickup. As well as its new engine, the Minor 1000 received a raft of improvements and upgrades aimed at modernizing the model, and offering greater drivability. Among the most notable changes was an improved 4 speed manual transmission that featured taller gear ratios allowing for easier motorway cruising. In 1962, Morris updated the 1000, fitting a larger 1.1L engine, but leaving the variant name unchanged. Although production of the standard Minor 1000 ended in 1971, Morris continued to produce commercial vans and pickups based on the 1000 until 1973.
