The Peugeot 908 Prototype was a series of race cars introduced in 2007. The 908 was created to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race, which it eventually won in 2009. The 908 Protoype was powered by a mid-mounted 5.5L twin turbo diesel V12 engine, yet a hybrid version featuring the same V12 engine was also developed and was known as the 908 HY. In 2011, Peugeot pulled out of endurance racing, ending production of the 908 Prototype and its variants.
