The Peugeot D3 van was introduced in June 1946 right after World War II under the Chenard-Walker brand. Powered at first by a 1.0L I2 two stroke water cooled engine that produced 26hp, it was clear that this engine was not powerful enough for a work oriented vehicle, in 1947 was upgraded to a 1.1L I4 engine used on the Peugeot 202 increasing power to 30hp. In order to fit this new powertrain, the front of the van had to be extended giving it the name of "Pig nose". In 1950 Peugeot acquired the Chenard-Walker brand and the D3 van was sold as the Peugeot D3 and during this same year the engine was again upgraded to a 1.2L I4 changing the D3 designation to D3A. In 1955 the Peugeot D3A was replaced by the D4.
