Citroën 2CV(1948 to 1990)

The Citroën 2CV is easily one of the most well known cars built. Introduced in 1948, the 2CV was named for its two horsepower engine (CV in French roughly translates to "Chevaux" or "Chevaux-Vapeur," which means horsepower or steam horsepower, which was the taxable horsepower of early French cars). The 2CV featured distinctive styling which was largely unchanged during its 42 year production run, and was built in five main body styles: sedan, five door hatchback, panel van, pickup, and utility coupe. Over the course of production, four flat two engines options were available: 375cc, 425cc, 435cc, and 602cc. The most notable 2CV variant was the Sahara, a two engined, four wheel drive car designed to cope with tough road conditions. A 3CV variant was also briefly produced, which featured the 602cc engine as well as a Citroën Ami chassis. The Citroën 2CV sold almost 4 million standard 2CV cars with production ending in 1990, and sales in 1991.
