The Chevrolet Corvette (C5) is the fifth generation of the Chevrolet Corvette sports car, produced by the Chevrolet division of General Motors for the 1997 through 2004 model years, produced mainly in either convertible or semi-convertible body style, which had a removable roof top panel (note that many semi-convertibles are labeled as 'coupe'). Besides the standard Base Model, production variants include the high performance Z06, as well as the 1998 Indy Pace Car Edition, the 50th Anniversary Edition, and the LeMans Commemorative Edition. Racing variants include the C5-R, a 24 Hours of Daytona and 24 Hours of Le Mans GTS/GT1 class winner, but the C5 was also used across a wide range of motorsports disciplines as a Race Car. In addition to standard variants, noted Corvette tuned Callaway also offered their take on the C5, and there are numerous Custom creations. The fifth generation Corvette was replaced by the Sixth Generation Chevrolet Corvette (C6).
