The Ford Cométe was a series of luxury cars introduced in 1951 by Ford SAF (France). The Cométe was created to be Ford SAF's luxury model, and was offered exclusively as a two door coupe altough an alleged two convertible versions were built. These front engined cars were powered by a V8 engine that grew in displacement over production from 2.2L to 4.0L. While Ford built the underpinnings, the stylish Cométe was bodied by FACEL, who would eventually produce their own line of cars as Facel Vega. Production of the Ford Cométe ended in 1954, although Simca continued to build the car under their brand for 1955.
