The Mercedes-Benz 280GE was a variant of the W460 G-Class that was introduced for the 1980 model year. The 280 GE was the top gasoline powered variant offered for the W460 generation and was offered on both the short and long wheelbase, as well as in wagon and convertible body styles. It was fitted with Mercedes' M110.994 E28 engine, which was exclusive to the 280GE. This engine generated 156hp and 167 lb ft of torque, which drove all four wheels via manual and automatic transmission options. Production of the Mercedes-Benz 280GE ended in 1991.
