The Mercedes-Benz 230GE (sold as the Puch 230GE in certain markets) was a variant of the W460 G-Class that was introduced for the 1982 model year. The 230 GE was offered in short and long wheelbase versions, which featured cabriolet, wagon, and panel van body styles. As well as the standard civilian versions, a sparsely equipped military version known as the 461 was also built. These cars were powered by Mercedes'  M102 E23 engine, which was a 2.3L inline four powerplant that generated 125hp and 140 lb ft of torque. This engine sent drive to all four wheels via a 4 speed manual, 5 speed manual, or 4 speed automatic transmission. The W460 Mercedes-Benz 230GE lasted until 1991, but the model series continued life in the next generation G-Class as the W463 Mercedes-Benz 230GE / G230.
