The Mercedes-Benz 230GE was a variant of the W463 G-Class that was introduced in 1990. The 230 GE was available in wagon and convertible body styles, and was offered on the short and long wheelbase. This series of cars was powered by Mercedes' M102 E23 engine, which was a 2.3L inline four that generated 125hp and 140 lb ft of torque. This power was sent to all four wheels via a 4 speed automatic or 5 speed manual transmission. In late 1993, Mercedes changed their naming system, moving the letter designation in front of the displacement designation, resulting in the 230GE becoming the G230. The Mercedes-Benz 230GE was not as popular as some of its other siblings, with just 516 examples built before production ended in 1995.
