Renault introduced the 12 in 1969. The 12 was the successor to the Renault 8, and was offered as a sedan or station wagon (estate). Renault fitted the 12 with a 1289cc inline four engine, yet the high performance 12 Gordini variant featured a 1565cc inline four engine. Alongside the standard bodies, a commercial three door service van variant of the 12 was also available. Production of the Renault 12 lasted until 1980.
