The Porsche 964 was a generation of Porsche 911 that was introduced in 1989. The 964 maintained the famous look of the 911, while thouroughly updating the model. Over the course of production, the 964 was built in coupe, cabriolet, and Targa body styles, and was powered by a selection of naturally aspirated and turbocharged flat six engines. Transmission options for the 964 were the Getrag 'G50' 5 speed manual, or the new 'Tiptronic' 4 speed automatic. As well as rear wheel drive, the 964 was also the first 911 to be offered with the option of all wheel drive. Although production of the Porsche 964 only lasted until 1994, a wide range of variants were built: Carrera 2, Carrera 4, Turbo 3.3, Carrera RS, Carrera RS N/GT, Turbo S2, Turbo S Leightbau, Carrera RS 3.8, Carrera RSR 3.8, Carrera RS America, Speedster, Turbo 3.6, Turbo S 3.6, and Turbo S 3.6 Flachbau. In additon to the road-going versions, various Race Cars were built from the 964, including the factory-built Carrera Cup. Due to the popularity of the 964 Porsche 911, it has commonly been used to create Custom examples.
