Although Porsche introduced the 964 series with a 3.6 liter engine in 1989, the Turbo version, introduced in 1990, inherited an improved version of the 3.3 liter engine from the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.classic.com/m/porsche/911/930/turbo-33/">second generation 930 Turbo</a>. The 3.3 engine produced 320 hp at 5,750 rpm, making the Turbo the world&#39;s fastest-accelerating production car at that time. An even more performance oriented variant, the <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/porsche/911/964/turbo-s-33-leightbau-lightweight/">Turbo S</a>&nbsp;(Lightweight), produced 375 hp. The 964&nbsp;Carrera RS was introduced by Porsche for model year 1992 specifically for the European market as a lightweight, track-ready version of the <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/porsche/911/964/carrera-2/">964 Carrera 2</a>.&nbsp;It featured a revised version of the standard 3.6 liter engine, titled M64/03 internally, with an increased power output of 260&nbsp;bhp (194&nbsp;kW; 264&nbsp;PS). The RS does not look much different from the other 911 models of the period but its weight is reduced and power increased. True to its racing spirit, the RS lacks power windows or seats, air conditioning, air bags, and other creature comforts common in the Carrera 2, reducing weight by approximately 345 lbs. However, most were built with the&nbsp;Touring option (MOO2) which adds back&nbsp;sound deadening material and other basic comforts.&nbsp;Other notable variants are the more&nbsp;race-ready <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/porsche/911/964/carrera-rs-ngt/">964 Carrera RS N/GT</a>, the US-specific <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/porsche/911/964/carrera-rs-america/">RS America</a>, and the later, ultra-limited production version, the <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/porsche/911/964/carrera-rs-38/">964 Carrera RS 3.8</a>.&nbsp;
