The Porsche 911 Carrera RS America was a limited production variant of the Porsche 964 that was introduced for the 1993 model year. As the 964 Carrera RS was not offered in North America, Porsche decided to introduced the RS America specifically for the North American market. These performance focused cars were based on the 964 Carrera 2 and featured a range of weight saving measures that included the removal of the rear seats and other items such as power steering and cruise control. The RS America was powered by Porsche's M64 engine, which was a 247hp 3.6L flat six that sent drive to the rear wheels through a 5 speed 'G50' manual transmission. As well as RS badging, these cars featured the distinctive "whale-tail" fixed spoiler. Production of the 964 Porsche Carrera RS America lasted until 1994, with a total of 701 examples built.
