The Renault 21 debuted in 1987 as a mid-size family sedan or wagon. It was the successor to the Renault 18. The French automaker also sold the car in the U.S. at American Motors and JeepEagle dealerships under the names Eagle Medallion and Renault Medallion. The 21 was sold with various four-cylinder engines, gas or diesel. It also came with three drivetrain options: transverse front-engine front-wheel drive, longitudinal front-engine front-wheel drive, and front-engine all-wheel drive.
