The BMW 520i was a variant of the E28 5 Series. Introduced for the 1982 model year, the 520i was powered by BMW's M20B20 inline six engine. This fuel injected 2.0L engine was first launched with 124hp, yet the Bosch fuel injection and engine management systems received regular updates, resulting in 129hp by the end of production. This series of cars was only offered as a rear wheel drive sedan, and with manual or automatic transmissions. BMW built the E28 520i until 1988, and the model series would be reborn in the next generation as the BMW E34 520i.
