The Dodge Omni was a series of subcompact cars introduced for the 1978 model year. Also sold as the Plymouth Horizon, the Omni was notable for being the first front wheel drive economy car to be made in the United States. Dodge offered the Omni as a five door hatchback, but in 1979, they introduced the Omni 024, a sleeker three door hatchback. A range of naturally aspirated or turbocharged inline four engines were offered, as was the notable Shelby GLH-S performance variant. Production of the Dodge Omni lasted until 1990.
