The Alpina B7 was introduced in 1981 as a variant of the E28 BMW 5 Series. This 4-door sedan was offered in three versions: Turbo, Turbo/1 and Turbo/3. All shared the same M30 based inline six engine, modified by Alpina with a single KKK turbocharger. With power sent to the rear wheels, the original B7 Turbo used a 3.0L or 3.2L engine, while the B7 Turbo/1 increased the displacement to 3.5L. The B7 Turbo/3, a very rare edition of less than 30 units, also used the 3.5L engine, but with final performance upgrades. All were fitted with a 5-speed manual transmission. The E28 BMW Alpina B7 was produced until 1987.
