For the 1978 model year, Mercedes-Benz introduced a long wheelbase (LWB) version of the W123. These long wheelbase cars were known as the V123, and were over two feet longer than the W123 Sedan upon which they were based. Due to this extra length, the V123 comfortably sat seven passengers, and is often considered to be more of a limousine than a long wheelbase sedan. Three V123 variants were offered: the 240D, 250, and 300D. Production of the Mercedes-Benz V123 Limousines ended in 1985 with a total of 13,700 examples built.
