The BMW 318Ci was a variant of the E46 BMW 3 Series that was introduced for the 1999 model year. The 318Ci was offered in both coupe and convertible body styles, and was built with various inline four engines. At launch, BMW's 117hp M43B19 1.9L engine was used, before being replaced for 2002 by the 146hp N42B20 2.0L unit. Depending on the market, BMW also used their N46B20 engine, which was a 150hp 2.0L unit that was sold in countries with a high sulfur level in their fuel. These engines were available paired to a 5 speed manual, or 5 speed automatic transmission, both of which sent power to the rear wheels. Production of the E46 BMW 318Ci lasted until 2006.
