The BMW 318i was a variant of the E46 3 Series that was introduced for the 1999 model year. The 318i was one of the entry level variants for the E46, and was offered in sedan and Touring (wagon) body styles. These cars were initially powered by a 1.9L inline four, but from the 2002 model year onward, a 2.0L inline four was fitted. These engines ranged from 117hp to 150hp, and were available with manual or automatic gearboxes. BMW produced the E46 318i until 2006.
